2020 SCHEDULE. Shapovalov will not challenge Federer, Tsitsipas in Dubai

Denis and his new schedules in 2020

Federer and Shapovalov

Denis Shapovalov is enjoying a fantastic moment in his young career. Even if the Canadian is hugely talented, he used to struggle to find continuity in his results. However, after partnering with his new coach Mikhail Youzhny, things started to change for the better in the last part of the previous season. The Canadian won his maiden title in Stockholm and he had an inspiring run in Bercy where he was the runner-up to Novak Djokovic.

Given his success and his soaring ranking, the Canadian had to adjust his schedules for 2020 in order not to succumb to a massive workload. Therefore, after the Australian Open, Denis decided not to compete anymore in Dubai and play the following tournaments instead: Montpellier (3 – Feb), Rotterdam (10 – Feb), Marseille (17 – Feb), Indian Wells (9 Mar), and Miami (23 – Mar).

Shapovalov is widely expected not to play in Marseille if he has a deep run at the Australian Open.

Federer, Tsitsipas, Monfils to play in Dubai

The organization is still elated with the line-up as they can rely on the presence of box office players such as Roger Federer, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Gael Monfils.
