There was a time when Eugenie Bouchard was one of the world’s most popular female tennis players and there were plenty of talks about a plausible boyfriend. The 2014 Wimbledon runner-up was one of the rising stars of the 2013-2014 tennis seasons. With her finals finish in Wimbledon, she became the first Canadian woman to reach a Grand Slam singles finals match.
She was able to win her first WTA title in 2014. She also peaked at no. 5 in the world rankings in October of that year, making her the first female player from her country to reach the top 5.
Because of her breakout performance in those two seasons, she snagged multiple endorsement deals with Rogers Communications, Nike, and Colgate. She also signed a 10-year contract with Aviva Canada.
Her personal life
The 25-year old tennis player began getting interested in the sport as a young girl. She first played tennis when she was five years old. Her parents started taking her tennis talents seriously when she won a Montreal event at age nine.
Before she decided on becoming a tennis player, Bouchard considered becoming a physician. This is because she had a good track record in her science and mathematics classes.
Is Eugenie Bouchard in a relationship?
Fans of Eugenie Bouchard are very much interested in her dating life.
Back in September 2019, Bouchard was reportedly dating investment banker Connor Davis. They were seen together being sweet at a beach in Miami. There is no available information as to whether they are still together now.
Before Davis, Bouchard also had a relationship with ice hockey player Jordan Caron. The Canadian was also previously linked with fellow tennis players Nick Kyrgios and Felix Auger Aliassime, but this was dismissed as pure gossip.
Is it time for Bouchard’s comeback?
The past few years have not been kind to Eugenie Bouchard’s professional career. She struggled a lot with her form recently. Within a year of her reaching the top five, she experienced a decline in the rankings, ending 2015 at no. 48. She eventually fell out of the top 100 in 2018.
The slump continued in 2019. At one point, she even had to endure a first-round exit in 12 consecutive tournaments. It remains to be seen if Bouchard will be able to revive her tennis court fortunes. But she is showing initial signs of a comeback.
In the ongoing ASB Classic in Auckland, the Canadian tennis player exhibited an impressive game. She just defeated French contender Caroline Garcia 6-4 6-4, powering her to the quarterfinal rounds. Bouchard’s win is her first against a top 50 player in the past 15 months. She will next face no. 25 Amanda Anisimova for a spot in the semifinals.
