Belinda Bencic and Sascha Zverev are very good friends and in the past there was a rumour about the fact that they were also an item.
However, after a few years, they are still in great terms and at the moment they are facing a common enemy: the second serve. Both Belinda and Sascha are committing a huge amount of double faults that is making their life extremely difficult on tour. Sascha lost all his matches at the ATP Cup after committing 31 double faults in total. Bencic was eliminated in her opener in Shenzhen after committing 7 double faults.
Bencic’s donation to the bushfires
Following the actual trend of some tennis players of donating an amount of money for every single ace, many trolled Zverev saying that he should donate an “x” amount of money for each doublefault.
Belinda took the suggestion seriously to say that she will actually donate $200 for each doublefault and she asked Sascha to do the same.
This was her message:
“Im on my way to beautiful Australia and my heart is crying reading the news every day. Its devastating to see what is going on with the bushfires and it needs to stop!!! I have already donated but will donate more in my upcoming tournaments in @AdelaideTennis and @australianopen. Although im not the best at hitting aces but much better at doublefaults, I will donate 200$ for each doublefault I hit at the next tournaments! Like that I wont be angry with myself when I hit one and finally they will be useful. :)”
