Ferrer beats Janowicz to triumph in Paris – Youtube

What a tournament we had this year in Bercy!

To be frank it didn’t start well with all big four out before reaching the quarters (that wasn’t very nice). This opened up the opportunity to have a couple of wonderful fairytales.

Funny enough the man of the week was a qualifier: Janowicz. This guy came from absolutely nowhere to delight the spectators and beat 5 top guys (one of them was Murray!) to play for the title. He didn’t make it as Ferrer was too solid, but this week will help him to break into the top 30… in style

The Final 6-4 6-3

Great stuff from David. At 30 years old, the Spaniard had his best year to win 7 titles (more than Federer and Djokovic!) and his first 1000 ATP Master. Ferrer was just too solid for Janowics to end the match in 87 minutes.

“It is a dream realised to win a Masters event,” said Ferrer “There was Rome, Monte-Carlo and Shanghai…[where he lost in the finals]. This time it is a happy ending and the ultimate reward of the best season of my career.”

From Janowicz

“This was his fifth match; this was my eighth match. I was really tired. I was actually exhausted almost,” said Janowicz. “I’m only human, and I’m still happy about this final. David played today really good tennis. It was good enough to beat me today. He’s a really experienced guy. He didn’t get nervous.”

“I’ve got a lot of confidence right now. I learned if you have big heart and you want to do something amazing and you’re going to fight for this, you have a big chance to make it.”

This tournament was great fun!
