2012 WTF Draw: Federer got very lucky, Djokovic to clash with Murray – Youtube

Finally we have the draw for the 2012 World Tour Finals in London.

The format of this tournament is of 2 Groups (Round Robin) of 4 players each. The first 2 players of each group will reach the semifinals. The 1st player will play with the 2nd player of the other group in the final four.

Let’s see the groups

GROUP A

Djokovic
Murray
Berdych
Tsonga

This is by far the toughest group. It is quite difficult to predict who will get through. Djokovic and Murray are the obvious favorites, but Nole is in horrible physical and mental conditions and Murray seems really drained as well.

In addition Tsonga plays very well here in London to reach the last year’s final and Berdych is now quite comfortable in playing on big stages. Even a complete upset (eg. Tsonga and Berdych to the semifinals) wouldn’t be science fiction.

Being undefeated in this group looks almost impossible.

Opening matches
Monday the 5th
Djokovic – Tsonga
Murray Berdych

GROUP B

Federer
Ferrer
Del Potro
Tipsarevic

It couldn’t be any better for Federer.

Even if he is playing really well (and he is in the final in Paris), Ferrer is definitely not comfortable playing indoor on fast courts and he will be dead tired after a long week in Paris.

Tipsarevic is by far the weakest player in the pack and he is not in perfect conditions (he just retired against Janowicz in Paris).

Delpo is a dangerous one (ok…we still talk about the WTF!), but we can’t see him defeating Federer once again (on top of it this is the 4th back to back tournament for Delpo).

Federer and Delpo are the favorite to get to the semis.

Opening matches
Tuesday the 6th
Federer – Tipsarevic
Ferrer – Del Potro
