Barty, Sharapova, Halep, Goerges latest to help the Australian wildfire relief

According to the University of Sydney’s ecologists, around 480 million reptiles, birds, and mammals have been lost to these bushfires, which have raged since September.

The Australian Wildfire has caused not only significant harm to wildlife but also human life. Already the bushfire has consumed close to 16 million acres (6.3 million hectares). At least 2,500 buildings were destroyed at 25 people killed. Simona Halep, Julia Goerges, Maria Sharapova, and Ashleigh Barty are the latest ones to come out in support of Australian wildfire relief.

Unfortunately, wildlife has really been affected by the Australian bushfires. According to the University of Sydney’s ecologists, around 480 million reptiles, birds, and mammals have been lost to these bushfires, which have raged since September. The alarming numbers of wildlife lost have caught the attention of different souls. A substantial number of tennis players have come out boldly to help the Australian Wildfire Relief. They have pledged to make significant donations that will go towards handling this untimely crisis.

 

Nick Kyrgios sets the pace for tennis players

The Australian sporting heroes have been at the forefront in helping the Australian Wildfire Relief. Some of those who have been very active towards this course include Peter Siddle, and Nick Kyrgios, who has set the pace for other Tennis players. The Australian pledged that he would be donating $200(US $140) per ace during the summer towards the bushfire crisis.

Other reputable players such as Simona Halep, Julia Gorges, Maria Sharapova, and Ashleigh Barty have also joined the Bandwagon committed to helping the Australian wildfire. For Simona Halep, she has come up with a unique plan on how to support this assignment. She promises to donate whenever she yells at her own Australian coach. Barty will donate all her prize money (singles and doubles) that will earn in the Brisbane International.

“Well, guys, you know I love Australia, but you also know I don’t hit too many aces. Soo I want to help, and my pledge is this…every time I give @darren-cahill a hard time in my box during all my matches in Aus, I will donate $200. Maria Sharapova has also expressed her interest in supporting this relief and recovery program in Australia following the recent catastrophic bush fires. She pledged to donate $17,400(25,000 AUSD) towards this operation. Furthermore, she challenged Novak Djokovic also to follow suit and her donation amount.

This is what she wrote on her twitter handle, “the month of January in Australia has been my home for the past 15 years. Watching the fires destroy the lands, it’s beautiful families, and communities of animals is deeply (heartbreaking. I would like to begin my donation at 25K. @DjokerNole, would you match my donation?”
