Federer easy to the Cincinnati 2nd round

Roger Federer has a good start of his Cincinnati campaign.

The world no.2 dismisses Peter Gojowczyk in straight sets after breaking his opponent once per set.

The match

Roger wasn’t as perfect as usual especially at the beginning when he had to save 2 break points in the second game of the opening set. After conquering a break in the 5th game (3-2), Roger had 2 save 3 more break points in the 8th game before winning the first set 6-4.

The second set was a bit smoother for Roger. In fact, after he conquered the decisive break in the 1st game and he managed to save 2 break points in the 2nd game, he conceded just 4 points in aggregate in the last 4 service game before winning the match 6-4 6-4 in 72 minutes.

I knew what to do. FEDERER

After the match, Roger looked pretty upbeat to comment

“I felt good in that first match, to be honest, walking out, hardly any nerves. I think I knew what I wanted to do, what I had to do. The game plan is very simple. It’s straightforward; it’s fast-court tennis.

I’m only feeling better every day that has gone by after Wimbledon. So, it’s nice to have played a match, so my last match is not the Anderson match, so you’ve kind of turned the page, I guess, in that regard. It’s a good thing.”

Next vs. Mayer

Roger will face Leonardo Mayer in the 3rd round. The head to head is 2-0 for Roger.
