Novak Djokovic is not playing at his very best in terms of intensity, but still the former world no.1 keeps on finding the solution to go deep in the tournaments.
In the Cincinnati 3rd round, Djokovic had the task of keeping at bay Adrian Mannarino knowing that the talented Frenchman has the weapons to hurt anyone on tour. In fact, Nole had to drop the first set after he was broken in the 7th game (3-4).
Djokovic managed to reset in the second set, and after an exchange of 3 consecutive breaks (2-1 in favor of Nole), the Serb had no problem in taking full control of the contest and win 4-6 6-2 6-1.
I didn’t have a great night. DJOKOVIC
After the match, Nole confessed
“I wasn’t feeling well. I didn’t have a great night and wasn’t feeling that well for the first set and a half. I kind of made it through, and with the help of the doctor and God, I’m just happy that I managed to overcome the challenge.
Credit to him playing well in the first set, but I wasn’t myself. On the court I had difficulty moving around and just hitting the ball, making a lot of unforced errors. The second part of the second set and third set it was already much better. I will try to take that into the next match.”
Nole will face either Mischa Zverev or Grigor Dimitrov for a place in the quarters.
