Rafael Nadal defeats Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-3 7-5 in the Round Robin in Brisbane, Perth, Sydney on Saturday. Nadal will fight against Pablo Cuevas in the next match.

Basilashvili had a strong start of this set after breaking Nadal in the 1^st game (1-0). Anyhow, the Spaniard found the way to come back to break Nikoloz in the 2^nd (1-1) and in the 8^th (5-3) game before winning the set (6-3).

2^nd set.

Nadal won the set after he broke the Georgean 3 times in the 5^th (3-2), in the 7^th (5-2) and in the 11^th (6-5) game. Basilashvili tried to stage a comeback breaking in the 8^th (5-3) and in the 10^th (5-5) game. Nonetheless, Nadal kept the situation under control before winning the set 7-5.

I had the match under control, 5-2 against a good player like Nikoloz. It has been a positive start. Obviously, he played some good games. I made a couple of mistakes, then the match became more difficult. That is it.”
