The Russians offer millions to Djokovic and Nadal for the 2013 Kremlin Cup

The 2012 Kremlin Cup champion was Seppi, next year it might be Djokovic and Nadal.

7 digit figure

Yes, apparently the Russian Tennis Federations has offered millions to both tennis stars to play in Russia next year.

The news came from Kafelnikov, former world no.1 close to the Tennis Federation, that announced on twitter that a seven digit figure has been offered to both players to participate to the tournament in 2013.

From the Russian Tennis Federation

Tarpishchev, the president of the Russian Tennis Federation, said “We’re interested in Djokovic and Nadal coming, that possibility could happen, in principle,”

The confirmation will come by the mid of January.

Federer and Murray?

Apparently the Federation could not lure also the other “top 2 guys” “Will it be possible to invite not only Nadal and Djokovic, but also Roger Federer and Andy Murray?” he said. “This is big money, we can’t afford it.”

It seems that they have already tried to lure Federer, Nadal and Sharapova to play in 2012 without succeeding in.

A decisive boost

Having Nole and Rafa would be a decisive boost to this 250 ATP tournament. In this year edition the top seed was Dolgopolov, a wonderful player, but not with the same “aura” as the “big 4”.

Interesting!
