Coco Gauff joins Serena Williams and Wozniacki in playing doubles in Auckland with McNally

Coco Gauff has Serena and Venus Williams as her benchmarks and tennis idols, and sometimes she tries to replicate some of their habits. Similarly to Serena, Coco is also training with Patrick Mouratoglou at his Academy and she decided to follow the former world no.1 in playing doubles in Auckland.

Serena announced to partner with her dear friend and soon-to-retire Caroline Wozniaki in New Zealand and Coco will pair with Caty Mcnally.

Coco a Caty have a brief, but extremely successful history in doubles. They won the Citi Open in what was their first tournament together on the main tour. Later, they doubled up the feat to win also the event in Luxembourg.

Tournament Director Karl Budge was already elated with the line-up in singles, but now there is more to cheer also on the doubles side. Budge commented:

“The Women’s Doubles field really rounds out an epic line up for us this year across both Women’s and Men’s Weeks, which includes a mixture of superstars and super teens. With Serena, Caroline, and now Coco confirmed for both singles and doubles, fans will almost be guaranteed to see these superstars each day over the opening round. Monday and Tuesday will be our best yet”

The tournament will commence on the 6th of January.
