Tsitsipas congratulates Nadal after epic final at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship

Stefanos and Rafa played an outstanding final in Abu Dhabi

Tsitsipas Nadal

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Rafael Nadal played a fantastic final at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship. It was the Spaniard to win a high-quality encounter 6-7 (3) 7-5 7-6 (3) after a thrilling match that lasted more than 3 hours in a rather electric atmosphere.

Both players competed at their very best in a match that was everything but an exhibition. When 2 competitors fight playing at this level, it’s just about details and Nadal probably took advantage of his superior experience against the upcoming Greek.

I gave everything. TSITISPAS

After the match, Stefanos looked quite upset with the loss to comment:

“I’ve never played an exhibition so long, or maybe even any match, so I’m happy I gave it my all out there. We got electric support from the fans here. It’s been a great couple of days, I enjoyed it a lot, and I’m really grateful to have the opportunity [to play this kind of matches].

Congrats to Rafa, it’s a great way for him to end the year. We put on some great entertainment with high-quality tennis.”

Stefanos and the Australian Open

Tsitsipas was very clear a few days ago to state that one of his main targets in 2020 is to win a slam. He can definitely make it because he is already playing at the same levels of the big3. Of course, he lacks their experience, but given his age, he may have more gas in the tank in the last stages of a given major.

It is interesting to notice that after his run at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, bet365 now considers him as the favorite no.3 to win the Australian Open after Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. According to bet365, he has the same chances to win the title in Melbourne as Roger Federer and Daniil Medvedev. This will be very interesting.
