Naomi Osaka’s coach Wim Fissette explains why the Japanese is so impressive

Fissette on why he was attracted by Naomi

Fissette Osaka

Wim Fissette has just joined Naomi Osaka’s team as her new coach. The Belgian had the luxury to coach many top players (and also former world no.1) such as Kim Clijsters, Petra Kvitova, Angelique Kerber, Vika Azarenka, and Simona Halep.

Why Naomi Osaka is special

Given Wim’s pedigree, he is able to do a rather thorough analysis of the potential of a player. During a recent interview with RTL Sport, Fissette explained why he was impressed and attracted by Naomi. He commented:

“Osaka is a very interesting player. She is young, has already achieved great results and has a bright future. Her personality also attracted me. She is a fairly introverted girl, but very intelligent.

I am impressed by her intellectual approach to tennis, of course as well as her physical abilities. She does more than strike hard on serve and forehand. She also moves remarkably and analyzes the game very well. I am delighted with this opportunity and will do everything to make this collaboration very fruitful. ”
