Why Tsitsipas is so happy about facing his best friend Monfils. Then Djokovic and Nadal?

Stefanos is ready to start the new season with a bang

Monfils Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas is 2 days away from starting his run at the Mubadala World Tennis  Championship when he will face his dear friend Gael Monfils.

The Greek is extremely confident about his tennis especially after his triumph at the recent ATP Finals in London, where he confirmed again that he can play at the same level of the Big3 after conceding 7 games to Roger Federer in the semifinal.

Stefanos will commence his run in Abu Dhabi against Gael Monfils to comment: “I know Gael pretty well, he is one of my best friends on the Tour and it will be exciting facing him.

For me, it is a great way to start the season by competing at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi. It is a tournament I have never played before. I am really looking forward to getting a few good matches under my belt before I travel to Australia.”

About facing Djokovic and Nadal

If Tsitsipas beats Monfils he will have the chance to play Novak Djokovic in the semifinal. If Stefanos beats the Serbian again after he defeated him in Shanghai, he might have the opportunity to challenge Rafael Nadal in a hypothetical final.

Talking about his chances against the top players, Stefanos commented:

“Over the last couple of years, I’ve proved I can beat top players. I can be persistent and consistent at the same time. I plan to work on controlling my nerves on court, being patient, not cracking under pressure and being brave in match situations.”
