Roger Federer and Sascha Zverev had a fantastic experience during their highly successful tour in Latin America a few weeks ago. The duo had a tremendous reception wherever they went and they also made an all-time record of presence for a tennis match when they attracted more than 42,000 adoring fans in Mexico.

However, there was a little bump on the road when they had to cancel at the last minute their exhibition in Bogota’ because of the local unrest.

Federer about having a breakdown

During the documentary “Roger Federer: Everywhere is Home” that will be broadcasted by the ESPN, the Swiss Maestro admitted that he became emotional when they cancelled the exhibition to say:

“We went to warm up and were having a blast on the court, but then everything started to get a bit crazy. I was thinking, is this the best scenario? Because people need to get home and be safe, and this was honestly when I knew we shouldn’t play, it was too much stress and pressure for everybody.

I had a bit of a breakdown. It was not going to be the dream match it was supposed to have been and I could feel it all falling apart at the end. When I came back, I was emotionally wasted.”

Federer’s exhibitions in China and South Africa

Roger has scheduled another couple of exhibitions. The 1st one will be played again against Sascha Zverev in Huangzhou (China) on the weekend of the 28th and 29th of December. Federer will play another exhibition (for his charity) with his dear friend Rafael Nadal at the Cape Town Stadium on Friday, 7 February 2020
