Elina Svitolina posted an “interesting” picture on Instagram about her actual coaching team. However, it was impossible not to notice that in the picture there was also tennis legend Marcos Baghdatis. That prompted obvious speculations.
Eventually, the Ukrainian confirmed the partnership on Instagram stories with the following statement:
About my collaboration with Marcos Baghdatis
Starting now, Marcos will be part of my team in the role of consultant coach, alongside my
current coach Andy Betties. I’m very excited to announce this news and I’m confident his strong experience will add value to my game. With such a great coaching team, I have set high objectives for 2020.

Naomi Osaka and Wim Fissette
The former world no.1 Naomi Osaka had 3 different coaches in 2019. She ended up her fantastic partnership with Sascha Bajin soon after conquering the Australian Open. Later she hired Jermaine Jenkins with not-so-good results to be coached again by her father. Even if Naomi had great results under the guidance of his dad with the titles in Osaka and Bejing, she always said that it was a temporary arrangement and that she would have hired a “proper” coach.
Naomi didn’t make any official announcement yet. However, she was spotted training with Wim Fissette in the last few days. The Belgian is a fantastic coach with massive experience. He used to work with the likes of Victoria Azarenka, Kim Clijsters, Simona Halep, Angelique Kerber, and Johanna Konta.
It’s not clear why there was no official announcement. Probably they are still testing their ideas and relationship during this period before confirming the partnership.
