Bad news from Amanda Anisimova as she will not be able to face Maria Sharapova at the upcoming exhibition at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship.

Amanda was meant to face her childhood idol Sharapova in Abu Dhabi on the 19th of December. However, the organization broke the news that the American was not fit to play/

This was the statement on social media.

“Due to injury, Amanda Anisimova has had to withdraw from #MWTC. Ajla Tomljanovic, the star who just led Australia to the Fed Cup Final, will replace her and play against Maria Sharapova on Day 1. We wish Amanda a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming Ajla #InAbuDhabi!”
