INCREDIBLE: Coco Gauff hits the headlines just for joining the Citi Open in Washington

Coco to be back to Washington in 2020

Coco Gauff is rising fast in the media at just 15 years of age. The American caught the attention of the tennis fans after she defeated Venus Williams last year in Wimbledon before reaching the second week. Coco got the attention of the media also because she has the same determination as her idol Serena Williams. Later in the year, she went 1 step further in Linz, where she won her maiden title.

Cori Gauff had a great time at the Citi Open

Gauff is becoming a household name extremely fast and tournaments all over the world make it a big deal when she decides to play. The teenager has already agreed to be back to play the Citi open in August (1-9).

This tournament is special for Coco that won her first career title in doubles with Caty McNally. The crowd was following Coco vigorously also during her qualifying matches in singles. Unfortunately, she crashed out rather early in the 1st round at the hands of Zarina Diyas (6-4 6-2).

 

Talking about her experience at the City Open last year, Coco commented:

“Last year I won my first WTA title in singles or doubles in Washington, and I also got to meet Miss Michelle Obama, which was really cool as well. My family and I had a good time in D.C., so it wasn’t hard to make the decision to come back.”
