Ever since she gave birth to her daughter, Serena Williams now understands the responsibilities which come with parenting. She now appreciates what her father had to undergo to turn her and Venus into elite tennis players. And forever, she is grateful for the care and help their father gave them.
The two sisters have turned out to be among the best tennis players in the world. They have won various accolades in different tennis competitions and set fantastic records. At the moment, Serena Williams is focused on making it 24 grand slams won to match Margret Court’s record. Unfortunately, she failed on various occasions this season to match that feat. But she is still hopeful that next year, she will bring that 24th grand slam home.
Serena Williams’ supportive father
Serena Williams’ daughter, Alexis Olympia, has taught her how to be a mother figure. She now knows the sacrifices she has to make to give her daughter the best in terms of parenting. The 38-year-old draws inspiration from her father, who has been very supportive all through since her childhood up to now.
Speaking to ESPN this year, she appreciated the work done by her dad. She said, “My dad is amazing. I could never have done what he has done, not only with myself but with Venus. It’s shocking, and as a parent, to do something every single day is very difficult, and I can’t do something with my daughter every single day.”
Serena’s father has always been supporting and advising her all through. The one-time WTA world number recalls how her father used to take her and Venus for training every day.
“And I remember when we were young, we went out and trained and practiced, and we didn’t miss a day,” she added.
Discipline is vital
She believes that it takes a lot of discipline for any parent to have such kind of a routine to help his children. This is an act that always makes Serena appreciate her father for the great job well done always. She loves him so much for the training and guidance he gave her while still trying to make a name for herself in the world of tennis.
To date, her father is still very caring as before. He keeps on checking on his daughter to encourage her during the WTA tours. On top of that, Serena Williams’ father watches all her matches, something that inspires her so much.
