Roger Federer and Sascha Zverv have been enjoying a fantastic tour in Latin America, meeting a lot of enthusiast fans. Safety was always considered an issue in this part of the world, but unfortunately the situation became unmanageable during their stay in Bogota. In fact, the is huge unrest in the Colombian capital and Bogota was put in curfew.
Therefore, after some hesitation, it was Federer to get the microphone and announce that their exhibition match had to be canceled for the safety of the people.
Roger later published a post on Instagram saying: “I am heartbroken for the people of Bogota. Due to the curfew tonight, unfortunately we could not put on the match I have waited so long for. I promise everyone Sascha and I will be returning in the future to give our Colombian fans the chance to see us play.
With such great and lasting memories from my 2012 tour to Bogota, I can’t wait to make that happen again.”
Next stop… Mexico City.
