Serena Williams launches new jewelry line on Instagram

Williams just launched her first jewelry line. What’s next for the tennis icon in the world of fashion?

Ever since she made her professional debut, Serena Williams has been one of the brightest stars in the tennis world. Over the years, she has accumulated 23 Grand Slam trophies. This number is just one less championship away from tying the record currently held by Margaret Court.

She has also become a major endorser of sports and business brands. In 2019, for example, she earned as much as $25 million off her endorsement deals with companies like Gatorade and JP Morgan Chase.

The tennis icon now has also waded into the jewelry industry, after she launched her own line. Posting on her official Instagram page, Williams introduced the first few pieces from the Serena Williams Jewelry.

Speaking about the collection, the tennis legend said that a strong woman inspired her work on the jewelry pieces. She also said that she hopes that the pieces will be able to make her fans and other people love themselves.

The jewelry line is a partnership between Williams and diamond maker K.P. Sanghvi. The pieces in the collection have been designed and vetted by Williams herself. Furthermore, she made sure that the diamonds are ethically sourced and produced.

There are 70 core pieces in the line and have been marketed mainly to appeal to holiday gift buyers. Williams’ brand is clearly projected in the collection, with some pieces embellished with words associated with her like “Queen” and “Winner.” There are also pavé diamond signet rings, lettered diamond earrings and personalized necklaces.

The prices of the items in the collection range from $299 to $9,999. They are exclusively available on Fred Meyer Jewelers online now but Williams said that she plans to expand it to other specialty stores soon.

William’s increasing presence in the fashion world

The jewelry collection is not Williams’ first foray into the fashion industry. Just last September, she made a splash during the New York Fashion Week. This was because her S by Serena Williams collection staged its Fall 2019 presentation, which delighted many fashion journalists and bloggers.

The New York show was packaged as a celebration of women who are not afraid to be break tradition and exceed boundaries. This includes women who Williams looked up to. Among those that served as inspirations for the show are Anna Wintour, Billie Jean King and her own sister, Venus.

She has also been rumored to be entering the cosmetics race. In 2018, it was reported that she trademarked the name “Aneres,” which is her name backward. The legal documents specifically pointed out that the name will be used for a make-up, hair or skincare brand.
