Federer: ‘Why I chose tennis over soccer, even if I was good.’ VIDEO

Federer playing soccer

Roger Federer is definitely one of the best tennis players in history (if not the best), but not many fans know that he was a rather good soccer player as well. This is not new for other tennis players. For example, Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem have both amazing soccer skills, but like Roger they decided to choose tennis for good.

The Swiss sensation is currently in Argentina as he is touring in Latin America with Sascha Zverev. During a recent interview with TyC Sports, Roger explained his relationship with soccer.

Roger commented: “I was good for Switzerland maybe a little, but not good for Argentina [laughing]. I don’t know how good I was. I stopped playing football when I was 12, and I chose tennis because I couldn’t go to all the weekly workouts. So I wasn’t allowed to play on weekends. It wasn’t fair for my teammates that I played tennis and didn’t go to soccer practice, so I said ‘I’ll play tennis, it’s fine’.

Then, he added: “I was pretty good at football, but I don’t know if it had been enough to play in B, in A or in the national team, I don’t think so. But I’m very happy to have chosen tennis; it was a good choice for me. ”
