The Dane had to rally from a 1-3 deficit in the third set against a very tenacious Stosur to gain the decisive break in the 6th game.
It was a tough match and it could have gone either way,” said Wozniacki, “But I managed to win the right points at the right times. I tried to stay aggressive and stay close to the line and just dictate.”
Caroline is currently wolrd no.11 and she can break in the top 10 if she wins the Tournament of the Champions is Sofia (starts the 30th of October).
Stosur was not really happy about the outcome to feel a bit unlucky in a couple of occasions “I certainly put myself in too much of a hole to be allowed to get out of it,” she said, “I feel like I went for the right things and missed by a couple of inches.”
Seppi – Bellucci 6-2, 4-6, 7-5
Good match from Seppi that defeats the Brazilian in 2 hours and 13 minutes. This is Seppi’s 3rd career title and the 2nd of the season (the first was the Serbian Open vs Paire)
“It is very special to win this title as I remember Kafelnikov winning so many times here and he was my idol growing up,” said Seppi. “I saw him a few times this week but I was too shy to ask him anything. It has been a great season for me, winning titles is so special, now I have won on all surfaces and that means a lot.”
Seppi will be ranked 22nd in the world after this title.
