Wozniacki,Stosur to clash in the 2012 WTA Final in Moscow – Youtube

We have a nice clash in the 2012 final of the Kremlin Cup.

Sam Stosur and Caroline Wozniacki managed to get through the final showdown defeating 2 tricky customers.

Stosur – Ivanovic 2-6, 6-3, 6-2

This was a close match. Ivanovic had a very good start to win the opener 6-2. Then Stosur managed to regroup and to find her serve to rally in the last 2 sets.

“In the first set Ana  was playing quite well making good first shots in the rally which forced me to play defensively,” Stosur said. “But in the second set I started serving a lot better and played much more accurate on return. I improved my movement and started playing more offensively and with that I managed to reverse and win the match.”

Wozniacki – Arvidsson 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-4

Caroline suffered from an early break to rally from a 1-3 deficit in the opener. The Dane broke back twice her opponent to wrap up the 1st set 6-4 in 40 minutes. In the second set,  after trading breaks after breaks (8 on 12 games), Arvidsson won the tiebreak at 4. Time for the former world no.1 to fight back in another set full of breaks (7 on 10 games) to win 6-4. The match ended after 2 hours and 34 minutes with a whopping 18 breaks on 31 game

I was really fighting out there. It’s tough on this surface to finish off the point,” said Wozniacki. “I had to step it up to win against her today. This surface suits her  game much more than mine and she could get lots of the balls. Besides, she was playing really good this week. It was tough to oppose her as we both know each other very well and know each other’s game so well. I’m just happy to make it to the final.”

The final -> Stosur – Wozniacki

Head to Head is 3-2 for Stosur (2-0 on Hard courts). Sam won also the last 2. The Australian seems to be the favorite to win this final.
