Dominic Thiem and girlfriend Kristina (Kiki) Mladenovic are having an outstanding year even if the famous tennis couple didn’t start this 2019 very well.
Dominic Thiem
The Austrian had a horrible start of the season with a depressing 3-4 win-loss record in the first 4 tournaments. Everything started to change from Indian Wells as he surprised anyone after he won the title beating Roger Federer in the final. Then Dominic won also the title in Barcelona (beating Nadal in straight sets on the way), Kitzbuhel, Beijing, and Vienna. Dominic has now the opportunity to clinch his 6th title of the season as he will face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the last act of the Finals in London.
Kristina Mladenovic
Kristina started the year with 4 consecutive losses in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and St. Petersburg. Her first win came only on the 17th of February in Dubai. However, later on she managed to find her way also helped by Naomi Osaka’s former coach Sascha Bajin. The Frenchwoman enjoyed some deep runs during the year, and the epilogue was glorious after she won the WTA Finals in doubles with Timea Babos, and she conquered the Fed Cup after beating Ashleigh Barty.
Kristina hailed her season on Instagram saying: ”
2 beautiful trophies to close out 2019 season! Thank you to all of you for following me & for the support! I can’t wait to keep chasing my 🎾 dreams! See you all in 2020 ❤️ #heretocreate”
Will Mladenovic go and see her boyfriend playing the final in London?
Kiki has been parading for the last week in France, celebrating her Fed Cup title. It is still unclear if she will go to London to cheer for her boyfriend in the final. It takes slightly more than 2 hours to catch a train from Paris to London. The journey would make sense.
