Stefanos Tsitsipas impressed the tennis world after reaching the last act of the ATP Finals after beating Roger Federer in straight sets 6-3 6-4.
The Greek impressed not only for his astonishing tennis and the fact that he looked completely confident playing toe to toe with Roger Federer, but also for the cat that he saved 11 break points of the 12 that he conceded.
Why I save so many break points
Stefanos was able to save all these break points for 2 reasons: first, Federer didn’t really step up on those moments; second, the Greek remained extremely cool and focussed on what to do. The world no.6 commented:
“I don’t really see it as pressure. I mostly see it as a challenge for me. When he’s up a break point, I see that as a challenge to overcome the difficulty. I have managed to turn that into a challenge and try to be as aggressive as possible, not give him time, not give him space to do things.
Of course it’s frustrating, and I know getting to that point, it’s something I try to avoid as often as possible, but it is tennis. He plays well. He gives me a really tough time on the court. He gets to his break points because he deserves to be there, but then I managed to stay composed and not think of too much and just play.”
