Roger Federer has always been full of praises for his wife, Mirka, who he regards as the most significant contributor to his tennis career success. The two lovebirds first met in the 2000 Sydney Olympics; both were representing their country.
After meeting Federer, Mirka rose to number 76 in 2001, which is her highest tennis career ranking. A persistent foot injury forced her to retire from tennis, becoming Federer’s public relations manager. They got married in 2009, l and the Swiss has always openly confirmed his unending admiration for his wife.
“If I speak of tennis, she had a deep impact on my character, maybe not on my game, but yes on myself as a professional because when I came on Tour, she knew the hard work I was just learning,” he admitted.
Mirka Federer’s unending support
Mirka has been supportive to Roger Federer, as his wife, public relations manager and greatest fan. She has been seen often in stadiums together with their children supporting her husband. But her visits to the ATP tours have reduced in previous years a bit due to parenthood and trying to take some time for herself. Nevertheless, there is nothing to worry about as much as their marriage is concerned.
“She is doing perfectly fine, there is no reason to worry at all, she is just taking a bit of a time out, she also needs to manage her own time,” Roger’s father defended Mirka. This was after rumors of her being pregnant for the third time hit the headlines.
Mirka’s constant support for his husband has not gone unnoticed. Her love and care towards the Swiss caught the attention of Mathew Ebden’s wife, prompting her to speak highly of Mirka.
“She is like a superwoman, the way she does with two sets of twins and a tennis player husband. She definitely deserves to have a great role in their success,” she said.
Mirka and shielding the children from the press
Roger Federer and Mirka have four children, two twin boys and two twin girls. The swiss has always involved his family when it comes to planning his tennis schedules. Together with his wife, they try as much as possible to develop programs which favour their children. They try to shield the children from the full glare of cameras and news reports.
Due to family reasons, Federer will miss the upcoming ATP Cup in Australia. The Swiss revealed that he would be taking some time out to be with his family though he will participate in several exhibition matches.
