Sharapova, Azarenka to clash in the 2012 China Open final – Youtube

Once again we have the top two seeds (and screamers) to contend a final in 2012.

This is their 6th final (the 4th of the year) and it is going to another interesting match.

Sharapova – Li Na 6-4 6-0

Maria was playing Maria’s way. No shaky things… just going for the kill every single point. The Russian really stepped up at end by winning 8 consecutive games when she was 4 all in the first set.

The second set was a bit of an embarrassment with Maria winning 25 points out of 34. The most amazing stat is that Li Na won only 1 point on her 1st serve in the second set to lose the other 10!

“In those first few games I thought my percentage of first serve was low. Against someone like Li Na who likes to take the ball early, I put a lot of pressure on myself to hit too many second serves,” said Sharapova.“My goal after that was just to get my first-serve percentage much higher than it was in the first three or four games.”

“I performed well, but she was better than me, and she had better control of the match,” said Li,

Azarenka – Bartoli 6-4 6-2

That was an easy match for Vika that took advantage of a very unstable Bartoli that committed 6 double faults and she could save only 1 break point out of 7.

The match ended after 1 hour and 34 minutes.
