Both Murray and Raonic had to battle through to defeat their opponents to reach the semis in Tokyo.

Murray – Wawrinka 6-2 3-6 6-2

It took 2 hours for the Scott to defeat Wawrinka in a 3 set match.  It wasn’t a huge thriller as Andy was in control of the entire match, but the second set.  Both players didn’t serve at their best to concede an aggregate 18 break points on 25 games. Finally it was Andy’s more solid tennis to give him the semis.

Raonic – Tipsarevic 6-7 (5) 6-2 7-6 (7)

This was a 2 hours and 44 minutes thriller. Maybe the most hilarious declaration of the year was when Milos said “I didn’t necessarily serve my best, but I was playing really well from the baseline,” said Raonic. “I’m happy to get through it. I did quite a few things well. I’m happy I played well on the big points.”.

Why was that hilarious? Well… Milos blasted an amazing 24 aces (on 16 service games), he served in 68% of his first service and he won 59 points out of 68 on his first service. On top of it the Canadian didn’t concede a break point… well… if he can improve it he is definately going to win at least 20 slams in his career!

Besides this, he had a very good game with a sticky Tipsarevic. Milos saved a match point with a huge service that put him in the condition to blast a forehand winner. Then he closed up the match with another huge ace.

Head to Head

Head to Head between Raonic and Murray is 1-1. Murray won the last one in the 4th of the last US Open 6-4 6-4 6-2.

The favorite is Murray, unless Raonic serves 40 aces!
