Surprise surprise as Karolina Pliskova parts ways with her coach Conchita Martinez. Even if it is rather common to see coaching changes during the off season, especially on the WTA Tour, this came as a surprise.
Karolina and Conchita had a marvelous season with 4 titles in Brisbane, Rome, Istanbul and Zhengzhou. In addition, the Czech reached a prestigious semifinal in Miami before ending her season as world no.2.
The statements of Pliskova and Martinez
Pliskova published a rather direct statement on Instagram saying:
“I decided I will no longer work with Conchita.. it was a tough decision, as the season was great. Thank you for all this year, and wish u only the best♥️🥳 Life is a change!!!”
