Simon, Gasquet to play an all-french final in Bangkok

And… voila’ we are going to speak French in Bangkok this Sunday with 2 very talented players.

Simon – Tipsarevic 6-4 6-4

Tipsi can’t stand Simon’s game to lose once again with him on hard courts (now it is 4-0 for Simon). This match was quite smooth for the Frenchman that conceded only 1 break point (saved!). Conversely, Tipsarevic had to face a different situation to save 8 break points out of 10 and to win only 38% of the points on his second serve. Eventually one break per set was the difference between the two.

“It was a very, very good match today and I couldn’t have done better than that,” said Simon. “Janko has been playing amazing tennis since last year; he is hitting hard and isn’t losing a lot. I think I played the perfect match, but it will still close. It gives me confidence for the final.”

Gasquet – Nieminem 3-6, 7-5, 6-2

Tricky game here. Nieminem was 2 points from the final when something happened. Nieminem squandered a 1 set and 4-0 lead and then when he was 6-3 5-4 30-30 and serving for the match a foot foul was called on his second serve. The outcome was a double fault and an imploding  Nieminem just disappeared. Janko won 9 of the next 11 games.

“It’s tough to say how I turned it around,” said Gasquet. “I tried to fight. I was playing badly and was frustrated after the first set. He wasn’t missing. At 0-4, I served well on the big points and he got tense. He double-faulted at 5-4, which was the key of the match, and in the third set I played better.”

The Final

Head to head is 5-0 for Gasquet that is the favorite to win this title
