Like Naomi Osaka, also Bianca Andreescu grateful for a great 2019

Bianca took some time to thank her supporters looking forward to having another fantastic season in 2020.

Bianca Andreescu

Bianca Andreescu enjoyed an incredible season. Last year at this time she was competing on the ITF circuit, and in less than 12 months she managed to conquer the US Open after beating in the final the great Serena Williams and an extremely hostile Arthur Ashe Stadium,

Bianca’s run started with her incredible performance in Auckland, where she reached the final starting straight from the qualifications after beating Venus Williams and Carolina Wozniacki on the way. After winning Newport Beach, things became glorious for the Canadian following her sensational title in Indian Wells. However, Bianca committed the error not to stop, and she decided to play in Miami with a lingering injury to her right shoulder. Unfortunately, that aggravated her issue, and she had to stop for many months.

However, Bianca wasn’t satisfied with “only” winning Indian Wells, but she went on to conquer the Rogers Cup and the US Open. The only setback of Bianca’s season was her continuous struggle with her body as she had to cope with far too many injuries. Eventually, Bianca had to withdraw from the WTA Finals in Shenzhen after battling with a problem with her back and, even worse, with her knee.

Thanking her supporters

Andreescu posted a great message on Social Media thanking her supporters, as follows:

“2019 tho😭 this szn has been insane. Blessings on blessings🙏🏽thank you God!! & thank you to everyone who supports me through thick and thin. Y’all are real ones❤️ oh & Canada stay winnin’ fr 😤 2019<2020”

Bianca world no.1?

In 2019, Bianca reached a world no.4 career-high, and she will end the season in the 5th place. Given her overall performance and drive, it seems almost inevitable that Andreescu will lead the rankings anytime in 2020. The big question mark is obviously her fitness and her capability to remain injury-free next season. Nevertheless, Andreescu has a great coaching team with a very capable fitness trainer, and they will be crucial for Bianca’s further rise.

Naomi Osaka

Also, the Japanese took her time to celebrate her 2019. Naomi had a less “linear” season than Bianca. She described her 2019 as a sort of “U” with a lot of success at the beginning (the Australian Open title) and the end (the titles in Osaka and Beijing), but a lot of struggle in between. Probably the one between Naomi and Bianca will be the most interesting rivalry in 2019.
