Denis Shapovalov had a fantastic run in Paris where he was stopped only in the semifinal by a revived Novak Djokovic. The young Canadian enjoyed a satisfactory end of the season even if he was struggling a lot after he reached the semifinal in Miami. Eventually, the youngster had the great idea of hiring Mikail Youzhny as his coach, and from that moment, he reached 2 semifinals in Winston-Salem and Chengdu before winning his maiden title in Stockholm. Shapovalov later impressed in Paris, where he was the runner-up to also end the season as the new world no.15 (career-high).

During the trophy presentation in Paris, the Canadian sensation didn’t miss the opportunity of thanking his team for their effort to say:
“A huge thanks to my team here in and back home you know everyone’s putting in a tremendous amount of hours blood sweat tears so it’s you know this is just a huge thanks to them as well and dice not it’s not only my achievement but it’s also there so thanks guys and lastly.
I just like to thank the fans. I mean, it’s not often I get to play in a stadium packed like this with so many people it’s been unbelievable the whole week. Thanks so much.”
Shapovalov’s schedules
Denis decided not to compete in the Next Gen Finals in Milan to get some rest. He will later play the Davis Cup, hoping that his dear friend Felix Auger-Aliassime will recover from his injury to join him.
