Rafael Nadal will play at the Paris Masters this week. The tournament will be his first competitive appearance since injuring his wrist at the Laver Cup. After sustaining the injury, the Spaniard took a break to recover as well as get married to his longtime girlfriend, Xisca Perello. He will return to the court this week in Paris. The Spaniard does not have a good record at the tournament.

Nadal’s record at the Paris Masters

Nadal has never won the ATP Masters 1000 event. In recent years, Rafa has struggled with injuries towards the end of the season. He has mostly skipped the tournament to recover from his injuries and build his fitness for the following tennis season. The King of Clays has also struggled at indoor tournaments, winning only two of his 84 ATP tour tournaments indoors. However, the Spaniard has been in good form this year and is positive he can play well at the tournament.

Nadal feeling better

In an interview before the tournament, Nadal has acknowledged that he needs to improve his record in Paris. The 33-year-old answered questions about his performances at the Paris Masters compared to the French Open. The former world number one has won a record twelve Rolland Garros titles. The world No.2 said that he has not played much at the tournament due to injuries, and when he has played, he has not been the best player. However, the Spaniard is always happy to travel to Paris that is the most important city in his tennis career. The Spaniard has recovered from his hand injury sustained at the Laver Cup. He expects to play at his best during the tournament. “I feel better, that’s why I’m here. And I am here with the goal to play my 100 percent. That’s what I expect.”

The Spaniard will start his campaign in Paris on Wednesday. He will move to the number one position after the tournament. Current world number one Novak Djokovic will also play in Paris. The two players are in a race to finish the season as the number one ranked player. Djokovic has been trailing Nadal in points earned this year and will move to number two after the Paris Masters. He only managed 180 points when he played at the Shanghai Masters earlier this month. He skipped the Vienna Open and the Swiss Indoors to play an exhibition match with Rafa in Kazakhstan last week.
