Andreescu’s coach explains how Serena Williams and Simona Halep helped her tennis

The Canadian became the youngest tennis player to participate in the WTA Finals in Shenzhen.

Bianca Andreescu has quickly risen the ranks to become an exceptional tennis player. Apart from hard work, guidance from her coach, the Canadian draws inspiration from some great and legendary players such as Serena Williams and Simona Halep. The two professional players have been influential in Bianca’s career.

Speaking ahead of Andreescu’s match against Halep in WTA Finals in Shenzhen, Bianca’s coach Sylvain Bruneau talked about how influential Serena Williams and Simona have influenced the teenager’s career. Besides, the coach also spoke about the different approach they were going to take to boost Bianca’s performance. Already, she has a fitness coach and therapist who are always available to assist her.

Serena offered great experience

The world No.4 has faced Serena Williams twice, in New York and Toronto. According to Sylvain Bruneau, the two matches were beneficial to Bianca. The Canadian was able to get not only experience but also used the games as a preparation strategy in facing other tougher tennis players such as Halep.

The Canadian became the youngest tennis player to participate in the WTA Finals in Shenzhen. Before her first match, Bianca firmly confirmed that her age was not going to be a big issue during the competition. She continued to name some great players who have managed to make their mark in tennis regardless of their age, the likes of Petra Kvitová and of course, Serena Williams.

Bianca Andreescu made her maiden appearance in the WTA Finals in Shenzhen. Her first match was against the Romanian, the player she had always admired since her childhood, according to Sylvain Bruneau, Bianca’s Coach.

Unfortunately, Bianca lost her first match against Simona. However, throughout the game, she had given the veteran quite a show.  The world No.5 ended up showing just why she is a veteran in this sport.

Bianca’s next opponents 

In her second group stage match, the current 2019 US Open winner will play against Karolina Pliskova. The top two in every group will advance into the next round. For Bianca Andreescu, it will be a must-win game if she wants to keep her qualification chances high.
