The court in Paris is extremely fast and Rafa needs

Rafael Nadal is about to start his campaign in Paris with the aim of winning the tournament and end the year at the top of the rankings.

Rafa is not well-known for being completely at ease when playing on indoor hard courts especially if they are particularly fast. However, the King of Clay has improved his tennis dramatically on fast surfaces and he has definitely a shot at winning the last Master1000 of the season.

Nadal’s coach on how fast is the court in Paris

Carlos Moya, Rafa’s coach and mentor, didn’t hide his concern about how quick is the court in Paris

“The court is a bit fast; the ball doesn’t bounce in a way that allows for a good read or much reaction time.

The only option is to be aggressive. We’ve taken this approach for some time now and practiced in this mode to prepare for whatever we face. But what the opponent brings to the match is also a factor, as always.”

Nadal’s draw

In the beginning, Rafael Nadal had Roger Federer in his part of the draw. However, the Spanish legend had the “good news” that Roger decided not to compete in France to preserve his energy for the ATP Finals in London. Rafa will probably face Mannarino, Wawrinka, Khachanov, and Zverev before a hypothetical final against Novak Djokovic.
