Roger Federer is well known for being one of the greatest players in tennis history. The Swiss sensation has amassed 102 titles and 20 slams during his incredible career. 9 of these titles come from Basel that is his hometown tournament. Federer revealed that he has a contract that he will compete in Basel as far as he is an active player (and healthy).

€1 million the appearance fee (?) that will be donated

As reported by the local newspaper, Basler Zeitung, on Sunday Federer commented: “My goal was that my contract will continue automatically as long as I play. And so we have settled it now. For me, it was clear anyway that I would play here every year as long as I continue to play tennis professionally. And it’s also important for the organizers to know that they can count on me.”

Furthermore, the Swiss sensation added, “All the money I receive here, I continue to give to the foundation.”

According to Basler Zeitung, his Federer’s appearance fee is huge, and it can be in the region of the 7th digit and therefore, it could be around €1 million. Besides the appearance fee, Roger may also pocket €430,000 if he wins the tournament. The former world no.1 may have his friend and compatriot Stan Wawrinka to try to stop him.
