Andy Murray won his first ATP title in two years over the weekend. His last title victory was at the Dubai Open in 2017. Murray won the European Open in Antwerp to crown his successful comeback from injury. The 32-year-old underwent hip surgery earlier in the year and has been playing in select tournaments to build his fitness. His victory in Antwerp was not the only piece of good news for the former world number one.

Murray and his wife Kim Sears are expecting their third baby soon. The couple got married in 2015 after dating for close to ten years. They had been together since 2005. After their marriage, the couple had their first daughter, Sofia, in February 2016. Their second daughter, Edie, was born in June of 2016. The couple is now expecting their third child. Murray joked after the final that he would need to be on the road more often since his family was getting a little too big. “I’ll have three kids under four years old. When I’ve been off the tour my family has got bigger so I need to get back on the road so we don’t get out of control.”

Murray just won his 1st title since the hip operation
All joking aside, Murray thanked his wife for her support during his recovery from hip surgery. The three-time Grand Slam champion revealed that Kim had encouraged him to keep fighting when he felt that he wanted to retire. Murray said he was looking forward to having his third child. After defeating Stan Wawrinka in the final, the British player cried after the match. He revealed that his battle with injuries over the past few years had been difficult and winning the title was an emotional moment for him. The former world number one has been moving well on the court during matches and said that his hip was no longer in pain.
After his victory in Antwerp, Murray will take a break from the tour. He will play for Britain in the Davis Cup next month. The former world number one was a key figure when Britain won the cup in 2015. After his title victory, the 32-year-old moved 116 positions up the rankings and is currently the 127th best player in the world. Roger Federer congratulated Andy on his win and said he was delighted to see him succeed after his comeback.

Ranked no.127, the Brit played his last match on the 20th of October when he defeated Stan Wawrinka 3-6 6-4 6-4 in the final in Antwerp to win his 46th career title.
