With the tennis season close to its conclusion, some players have been making plans for the offseason. Roger Federer and Alexander Zverev, they will travel to Latin America for a series of exhibition games. The two will play in Colombia, Mexico, Chile, and Ecuador. The Swiss and the German have qualified for the ATP Finals in London next month. They will play in the finals before traveling to thrill fans in Latin America the following week.

Team8 managing Zverev

Federer’s management group Team 8 has been involved in organizing the exhibitions. Earlier this year, the sports agency signed Zverev after he parted ways with his former agent Patricio Apey. Retired tennis player, Nicolas Lapentti, has been involved in the planning of the exhibition match between Roger and Alexander in Ecuador. The Ecuadorian has revealed that the two will travel with ten other people to Latin America. The traveling party will consist of physiotherapists, coaches, and security personnel. Lapentti also said that he was not surprised by Zverev’s participation in the exhibition matches. He revealed that unlike major tournaments, players can choose who they want to face in exhibitions. The Ecuadorian suggested that Federer had chosen to play with the 21-year-old in Latin America.

Plans for the matches have been in full swing. The organizers have been booking hotels for the players and their teams. They have also been monitoring the political situations in the countries involved and have been updating the World No.3 and his team. Federer and Zverev will start their exhibition tour in Chile. They will then travel to Bogota, Colombia and then fly to Mexico for a match which will have around 40,000 spectators. They will end the exhibition series in the city of Quinto, Ecuador on 24th November.

Before facing Zverev in Colombia, Federer will play an exhibition in Argentina against Juan Martin Del Potro. The two will play the match in Buenos Aires. It will be a busy month for the Swiss who will travel around 100,000-kilometers to play in all the exhibition matches. The 38-year-old played in the Shanghai Masters last week. He reached the quarterfinal where he lost to Zverev. The 21-year-old has a 4-3 winning record against the 20-time Grand Slam champion. The German, however, has received some criticism for choosing to play the exhibition matches in Latin America. The German chose to skip the Davis Cup finals in Madrid in favor of the matches. He had played for his country during qualifying for the finals.
