Medvedev Tsitsipas

Daniil Medvedev won the Shanghai Masters last week. He defeated Alexander Zverev in the final to claim his third title of the year. The Russian had defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinals of the tournament. The two players have not always seen eye to eye. After the tournament, they have exchanged words in the media.

It’s boring to play against Medvedev

After his defeat to Medvedev in Shanghai, Tsitsipas called the Russians game boring. The 21-year-old was speaking in an interview after the match. His loss to Medvedev was the fifth time he had lost to the 23-year-old. The Greek has never won a match against the Russian. He told the media that playing Daniil was boring. The Greek player said that his opponent had a huge serve. He stated that even after returning the serve, the Russian would continue to return the ball which leads to long boring rallies.

Medvedev responds to Tsitsipas’s comments

While Stefanos seemed to be giving an honest assessment, the Russian has not taken his comments kindly. The Russian has responded to the comments. He brought up the Greek player’s recent participation in the Laver Cup. Tsitsipas was on Team Europe with Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Alexandar Zverev. After the players won the cup, they went out to celebrate. In a video posted on YouTube, the Greek revealed that he had drank some alcohol at the party. The 21-year-old said that he took half a glass of vodka and coke. Tsitsipas, in the YouTube video, told his mother that he did not enjoy the drink. He, however, had to down the drink after his fellow players insisted and chanted his name.

Medvedev has mocked Tsitsipas over the video. The 23-year-old said he had watched the video after a friend brought it to his attention. He questioned the 21-year-old’s decision to blame his teammates for drinking at the party, and calling the drink disgusting. The Russian also mimicked world No.7’s voice when telling his mother about the ordeal. He said that he could no longer take him seriously after watching the video. “‘Mom, you hear, it was disgusting! I can provide you a video.’ This is ridiculous. I can no longer take him seriously.” This is not the first time Daniil and Tsitsipas are feuding. In 2018, Stefanos insulted the Russian after a match at the Miami Open.
