Medvedev about beating Federer and Djokovic’s record of 17 finals in a row

Medvedev is impressed by the record of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic

Daniil Medvedev

Daniil Medvedev is probably the man of the moment in the ATP tour. Currently ranked no.4, the Russian sensation reached his 6th consecutive final after Washington, Montreal, Cincinnati, the US Open, St. Petersburg and (now) in Shanghai.

Daniil is particularly happy with his achievement, but then a journalist made him go back to planet earth when he was asked about matching Federer and Djokovic’s record of 17 consecutive finals.

The Russian looked stunned by this stat to comment:

“They have 17 in a row? Wow. That’s far ahead. I do think it’s impossible, but there are two guys who have done it, which I actually didn’t know. It is just unbelievable. I don’t have any words to describe this.

For myself, making six in a row, including three ATP Masters 1000’s and one Grand Slam, is something I could never dream of, to be honest. But I want to keep the momentum going and hope I can make it to seven or eight. Let’s see about 17 later.”

The final vs. Zverev: H2H and prediction

Daniil will face Sascha Zverev in the final for the Shanghai title. The head to head is 4-0 for the German. However, Medvedev may be the favorite to win in 3 sets.
