Here we are at the last Slam of the season that will probably give an important indication of who is going to be the 2012 world no.1 Let’s analyse the draw quarter by qyarter.
Q1 – Federer
This time Roger wasn’t really lucky. The worst part of it is that Murray fell in his half. But also the rest of the draw is not super nice. After the first two easy rounds (Young and then either a qualifier or Phau), Roger should play Verdasco (not in great shape, but still dangerous), then Fish/Simon (with boom boom Karlovic that is looming), Berdych (he is not playing well, but he is still an experienced Grand Slam player that did upset him in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon 2010)
Quarter Prediction: Federer – Berdych
-> Head to Head – 11-4 for Federer (3 all in the last 6 matches).
Q2 – Murray
Andy is always unlucky in his draws, then (good for him) all dangerous players start to disappear and he always manage in a way to get through. After a couple of easy rounds (Bogolomov Jr. and Dodig), he should play Bellucci/Lopez (Bellucci is the most dangerous one as he is completely unpredictable), Raonic (very dangerous, maybe the worst to meet in the “lower seeds” category), then Tsonga in the quarters.
Quarter Prediction: Murray – Tsonga (Raonic to spoil Murray’s party?)
-> Head to Head – Murray leads Tsonga 6-2, but that is always a big battle
Q3 – Ferrer
Horrible draw for David. The Spaniard will play big server Kevin Anderson in the first round. Then probably Gimeno-Traver, Youzhny/Hewitt, Gasquet/Haas, Tipsarevic/Isner
Quarter Prediction: Ferrer – Isner
Head to Head – 3-1 for Ferrer, but Isner won the last one.
Q4 – Djokovic
Lucky stuff for Nole (he needed it given his stress level). Djokovic will play Lorenzi in the first round an then probably Dutra Silva, Wawrinka/Dolgolopov, Del Potro. Delpo seems to be the toughest hurdle before the final
Quarter Prediction: Djokovic – Del Potro
Head to Head – 5-2 for Djokovic
Wilander and Ivanisevic see Murray as the favourite
