Finally Li Na won another title. After winning Sydney and the French Open in 2011, Li Na had to face a big drought in terms of titles. This drought came to an end in Cincinnati.
The final didn’t start well with the Chinese losing an awful first set 6-1. Then it was time to regroup and win the last 2 sets in style. The big breakthrough came when Li Na won 9 straight games when she was 1-6 0-1 down to find herself leading 1-6 6-1 3-0. Then we had a match in the second part of the set, but it was too late for Kerber.
After this tounament Kerber will be ranked as world on.6, Li Na will still be ranked world no.9, but she is now very close to Caroline Wozniacki (only 35 points below).
