The two will kick off the Latin American tour in Chile. They will play at the Movistar Arena on 19th November. Federer will then head to Argentina for a match against Juan Martin del Potro in Buenos Aires on November 20th. After the match, he will link up with the world No.6 in Colombia for another friendly match in Bogota. It will be Federer’s second exhibition match in the country after playing with Jo Wilfried Tsonga in 2012. The match in Bogota will take place on November 22nd. On 23rd November, the German and the 20-time Grand Slam champion will play in Mexico City in an event dubbed “The Greatest Match.” The venue of the match will be at the Plaza de Toros. The venue can hold up to 40,000 fans which would be a record attendance for a tennis match. The two players will end their exhibition tour in Ecuador with a match on 24th November.

Clash with Davis Cup

Federer and Zverev have faced some criticism over the exhibition matches in November. The matches will be in the same week as the Davis Cup. The finals take place from 18th to 24th November in Madrid. Alexander played for Germany during qualification but decided to play the exhibition matches instead of the finals. Michael Kohlmann, the German captain, has accused the Swiss of influencing the 21-year-old’s decision. The former tennis player accused the 38-year-old of being against the Davis Cup and the ITF.

Zverev, however, has defended his decision to play in the exhibition matches. The 21-year-old had previously stated that the tennis season was too long. He has said that the matches in Latin America will be more fun. The German said the exhibitions would be more of a holiday. He said, “That will be my holiday, it’s not like playing a tournament so we won’t go there and practice hours a day. You go there, you enjoy the places. You don’t go out and practice and kill yourself, so it’s different.” He reached the semifinals of the China Open this week but lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas.
