At 19 years of age, Bianca Andreescu is already close to the very top of the rankings. The world no.6 has won 3 top events in 2019 after triumphing in Indian Wells, Toronto and at the US Open. Bianca achieved all of this by being a perfectionist and with the big help of a great coaching team.
Andreescu and her coach Sylvain Bruneau
Bianca confessed to being worried about playing Elise Mertens in Beijing because she had a tight 3-sets win against her during the recent US Open. Eventually, everything went well in China and Andreescu won the contest in straight sets after a tense tiebreak.
During the press conference that followed her victory against the Belgian, Bianca was asked if she made any significant adjustments comparing to her game-play in New York.
Bianca commented:
“I went over the match with my coach the other night. We actually watched the match together, some parts of it. That’s the first time I did that with my coach actually. I think I’m going to continue doing that. It’s nice to get both of our perspectives on the match, not just right after playing, but a couple of weeks after. I think it’s very refreshing.”
Then Bianca added:
“I always watch it on my own. He usually does his own thing as well. The next morning we’ll talk about it.
Last night we sat together and watched it. I think that’s a really effective tool because we can both talk about the match like I said, not only after playing but a couple of weeks after. I think you see different things.”
