BEIJING. Amazing Zheng thumps Stephens in the 2nd round of the China Open

Saisai Zheng crushes Sloane Stephens 6-3 6-1 in the 2^nd round in Beijing on Tuesday after playing a solid match to square off with Ashleigh Barty in the 3^rd round.

1^st set.

Zheng won the set after she broke Stephens 3 times in the 3^rd (2-1), in the 7^th (4-3) and in the 9^th (6-3) game. The American tried to stage a comeback breaking in the 6^th (3-3) game. Nevertheless, Saisai stayed solid before winning the set 6-3.

2^nd set.

The Chinese won the set after she broke the American in the 4^th (3-1) and in the 6^th (5-1) game. That break was the key and it was sufficient for Saisai to conquer the set because she didn’t concede her serve during the rest of the set.

Stephens was powerless in the last 5 games of the set (from 1-1 to 6-1).
