Naomi Osaka’s rise in tennis has been a fantastic story. The 21-year-old announced her arrival by beating 23-time Grand Slam Champion Serena Williams at the US Open in 2018. She followed up the victory by winning the Australian Open this year. Osaka was born in Japan but resides in Florida after her family moved when she was 3-years-old. The former world number one recently purchased a house in California from celebrity Nick Jonas this year according to Variety.com.
The $6.9 million dollars House in Beverly Hills
The Japanese bought the property located in the Beverly Hills Post Office neighborhood for about $6.9 million dollars. Jonas sold the house in August to the tennis player. The actor is looking to buy a mansion with his wife, actress Priyanka Chopra. The property size is 4,129 square feet. The luxurious bachelor pad has five bedrooms and four bathrooms. The walls are made of hardwood which contrasts well with the white oak floors. The property also has a guesthouse within the compound with a bedroom suite and private gym. The garage holds two vehicles and in addition, the compound has a terrace space for sunbathing.
Osaka’s endorsements and prize money
Osaka tennis career has been financially successful so far. The 21-year-old has earned over $10 million dollars in career prize money. She reached the mark this year after winning the Australian Open. The Japanese player earned around $15 million dollars from endorsements in 2018. She is a brand ambassador for noodle company Nissin. She also has a deal with Ana Airlines in Japan. This season, she has earned $4,340,017 dollars in prize money on tour. Players who have earned more this year include Ashleigh Barty and Bianca Andreescu who have both earned around $6 million dollars while Simona Halep has earned around $5 million.
Osaka’s most recent title was at the Toray Pacific Open in Japan. She won the title for the first time after reaching two previous finals. The former world number one is playing in the China Open in Beijing. She will be aiming to qualify for the WTA finals in Shenzhen. The tournament will feature the eight best women tennis players in the world. The tournament will have a total of $14 million dollars in prize money. In the singles matches, the player who wins the Billie Jean King Trophy undefeated will earn a $4.75 million dollar prize check, the largest amount awarded to a single player in tennis history.
