Naomi Osaka happy with her father Francois as her “new” coach

Naomi explains why working again with her father as a coach is bearing good results

Naomi Osaka and her father

Naomi Osaka has been struggling with her coaches after she won the Australian Open back in January. The Japanese sensation surprised her fans after suddenly splitting with Sascha Bajin a couple of weeks after winning her second slam. Eventually, Naomi partnered with Jermaine Jenkins. However, even if it seemed as Osaka and Jermaine had good chemistry, they didn’t achieve much during their partnership. Finally, the former world no.1 decided to part ways with the American before playing the home tournament in Osaka.

Naomi went back to the future to be coached again by her father Leonard Francois, and things started to work well instantly. The Japanese won the title in Osaka immediately, and she is having a rather good run in Beijing where she is in the 3rd round without dropping a single set.

During the press conference following her 6-2 6-0 win over Andrea Petkovic, Naomi explained why things are getting so well with her father. The former world no.1 commented:

“It took me back a little bit because he’s always been around, but he’s been in the shadows for the most part.

I would say he is a person that knows my game the most. He’s kind of the person that knows the trigger words, whether good or bad.
