ATP rankings – Federer widens the gap. Murray world no.3?

Not many changes in the top 10.

Roger still world no.1 and not playing in Cincinnati?

Roger widens the gap with Djokovic. This allows him not to play in Toronto and to retain the world no.1 ranking.

The Swiss Maestro can also mantain his top ranking without playing the ATP 1000 in Cincinnati if Nole doesn’t reach the final in Toronto.
In fact, if Nole reaches the semis in Toronto and wins Cincinnati he would lose 240 points as he won the Rogers Cup and was finalist in Cincinnati in 2011 (-1600+1360 =-240pts).
If Roger does not play also in Cincinnati he would lose 270 points as he lost in the R16 at the Rogers Cup and he reached the quarters in Cincinnati in 2011 (-270+0=-270pts).
Now since Roger is 165 points ahead, he would be 135 points ahead of Djokovic (-270 fom Roger nd -240 for Nole).

Murray World no.3?

This will happen if Andy wins the Rogers Cup in Toronto. In fact, last year he reached the R32 in Montreal to gain only 10 points. If he wins in Toronto he will have additional 990pts (1000-10). Since Rafa will not play the Rogers Cup (he will lose only 10pts as he also reached only the R32 in 2011), in case of victory Andy will be the new wolrd no.3 (8.120+990=9110pts that would be more than 8.905-10=8.895pts of Rafa)

If this happens, in order to remain as world no.3, Andy has to retain his 2011 in Cincinnati and Rafa should not reach the semis.

Delpo in the top 8

Besides winning a very emotional bronze medal, Delpo also reached the top 8. This is a very important landmark to qualify for the World Tour Finals.
