BEIJING. Ferocious Alexandrova blitzes Halep in the 2nd round of the China Open

Ekaterina Alexandrova shocks Simona Halep 6-2 6-3 in the 2^nd round in Beijing on Monday after playing a superlative match to play Aryna Sabalenka in the 3^rd round.

Alexandrova started the set strong after breaking Halep in the 2^nd game (2-0) before consolidating her break and lead 3-0. Nonetheless, the set was not over yet and there was more work to do for the Russian to win the set because the Romanian found the way to break back in the 5^th (2-3) game. The Russian kept her focus to break Simona in the 6^th (4-2) and in the 8^th (6-2) game.
